The Pinetree School

The DofE Pinetree Expedition

This Year 5 pupils took part in the Duke of Edinburgh for the first time. This culminated in pupils completing an expedition and an overnight stay. Students took an adventure to Lambourne End. Here they pitched their own tents and explored the famous woodland, along the way they took part in various adventurous outdoor activities varying from mountain biking to orienteering and camp cooking. Throughout the two days students worked hard as a team and developed their independent life skills further. This was a great opportunity, and all students involved have now gained a nationally recognised award. The pupils described the trip as a great experience and felt a great sense of connection to both their peers and the staff on the expedition. They said it was great to come out of their comfort zone and felt they had gained a lot. For many it was the first time they had been away from their parents and for 2 the first time they had left Norfolk.

All those involved should be proud of their hard work and efforts. We hope that next years cohort can share the same success. As a school we are very proud of what was achieved by all across the Duke of Edinburgh award. Hopefully this can become an annual award our pupils can participate in.
